A Broken Heart

Desiree started the show by reflecting on her fairy tale Bachelorette season. Despite all the drama and farewells she is excited about the next step.  She talked about her feelings for each of the guys.

Chris – Perfect for her in so many ways…sincere, sweet, and romantic.  They connect on different levels and have all of the ingredients for a true relationship. 

Drew – Passionate and romantic, with an emotional connection.  Sincere with a kind heart and open with his feelings about her.

Brooks – Her feelings for Brooks are set apart from everyone else.  He is unlike anyone she has ever known, adventurous, deep, and spontaneous.  One of a kind.  Brooks hasn’t said he loves her, but she knows he does.

Date #1 Drew

They started the date with a road trip.  Des gave up control and let Drew drive!  They stopped at Shirley Heights for a local party and joined in for a game of limbo.  After the party they moved onto a picnic overlooking the city.  The conversation started off by talking about his family and how much fun they had meeting each other.  Drew told the camera that he has met “the one, his soul mate”. 

The evening plan was to have dinner on the beach, but it rained so they ended up going to the fantasy suite for dinner.  She gave Drew the fantasy suite card to see if he would be up for staying the night.  Of course he accepted!  They talked about what they are looking for in a relationship.  Drew told her that he falls in love with her more and more each day and that he would get down on one knee and propose that minute.  They moved onto the bedroom for some champagne and kissing.  Drew dismissed the cameras.

Brooks in Boise

Brooks told the camera that he has been thinking about his relationship with Desiree and that he is nervous about the overnight date.  He is nervous to tell her that he loves her or that he doesn’t.  He decided to take a trip to Boise to ask family for support on how he is feeling.  He admitted to his sister and mom that he is uncomfortable with the idea of proposing to her at the end.  He admitted that he feels like he can’t say that he loves Desiree.  His sister told him that he knows what he needs to do, but is having a hard time because he doesn’t want to have the hard conversation.  They talked about how great Desiree is and how well she would fit into his family.  He just doesn’t feel like he can propose. 

Date #2 Chris

Chris pulled up in a jeep to meet Desiree on the side of a road.  She started to tell him that she wants to explore the island and a helicopter flew in to pick them up.  They got dropped off on an island for a picnic.  The conversation started with recapping the hometown date.  They moved onto making out on the beach and then onto making out in the ocean.

After spending the day making out they moved onto a romantic dinner.  They started the conversation about their future.  Chris admitted to her that he doesn’t want to leave his job in Seattle and was thinking that she could move to Seattle.  Desiree told him that “right now California is my home”, but that when she is in love she sacrifices.  After a lot of rambling she told him that she would be open to moving to Seattle.  After more conversation about love she pulled out the fantasy suite card.  He told her that he would accept the offer and suggested that they sit outside and watch the stars – Really?  When they got to the suite he had a poem to read to her – surprise, surprise!  Then more making out in the hot tub…

Date #3??? Brooks

Before meeting up with Brooks, Des told the camera that she see’s her future with Brooks and has stronger feelings for him than the other guys.

Chris met Brooks at his hotel room.  Brooks told Chris that he has had nothing but amazing dates with Des, and felt himself falling in love with Des during their dates…but later when thinking about it he can’t see himself proposing.  Chris asked him if he was 100% sure that Desiree is not the girl for him.  He said that he feels like if he doesn’t feel it at this point that he doesn’t think that he will feel it.  Once again Chris asked if he was 100% sure.  He said that he isn’t feeling a crazy love for her.  Chris continued to probe and asked if he has a barrier because his parents are divorced.  He said that he has been ready for marriage before and that it didn’t workout. 

Brooks headed to meet up with Desiree for what she thought would be a date.   Desiree told the camera that she is in love with Brooks and would say yes if he asked her to marry him.  Brooks walked onto the beach to meet up with her…they had a long embrace.  He asked her if they could sit down.  He broke the news to her.  She was heartbroken!!!  She asked him when they are away if he feels like he loses his connection with her.  He told her that he does.  She asked him “why now?”  He said responded with “because I didn’t know”.  She broke down…and said that she doesn’t know what to say…that she loves him and can’t say that about the other guys.  He then questions her “why didn’t you tell me that?”  She told him that for once in her life she was hopefully and that she felt completely loved.  “This sucks!  I don’t care that you broke my heart, I love you!”  He responds with “I care for you, just know that.”  He continued to explain himself and she finally cut him off and told him that she doesn’t want to talk about it.  Brooks told the camera that he was surprised for the love that she had for him and that he didn’t want to leave her and see her crying.  

They started to walk away and he asked her "now what are you going to do?"  She told him that she has been conflicted the whole time because she hasn't shared her heart with anyone else because she was waiting to share it with him.  He felt like an ass!  He told her that he doesn't want to leave her and that he is sorry.  They embraced one final time and she sent him off.  She walked back to the spot where he broke the news and broke down.  The cameras flashed to Brooks breaking down as well.  I wonder if he has regrets?  

The two part finale ended with Brooks crying in the limo.  Too bad they were self inflicted tears!

Desiree told the camera that it is over for her!

Dates & Disappointment

Hometown Date #1:  Dallas, TX – Zak

Zak and Des met in a park and Zak filled her in on who she would meet from his family. After filling her in on his family he told her about this really strange dream that he had the night before.  – Random After that weird moment he ran off telling her that he had a surprise for her.  He came back with a snow cone truck (the family business).  They went to Zak’s elementary school and served snow cones to crazy kids.

Second stop with the snow cone truck – Zak’s parents house.  Desiree met his mom, dad, brother, and sister.  – Talk about a warm greeting, they were so excited to see them!  Zak told his family the story about how he met Desiree (shirtless), and his sister was appalled!  They couldn’t believe that Desiree continued to give him roses.  Zak’s mom was too cute!  She had roses on the table and told Des she could just give him a rose now and end the show!  Mom pulled Des aside to talk.  Mom loves her!  Sister pulled Des aside for one on one time.  His sister wasn’t as protective as Zak had said.  His sister approved, but told the cameras that she is a little scared because she doesn’t want him to get hurt.  Zak and mom had alone time and he told mom that he is falling in love with who she is as a person.

After alone time with the fam, Zak’s brother and sister sang a song that Zak had written for Desiree while he played guitar.  Desiree could barely hold back the tears!  After the song, Zak and Des stepped outside for some alone time.  Zak told her that he had something for her that he has had since Atlantic City.  He said he has had it in his pocket the entire time that he has been on the show – A ring!  He gave her the ring, tell her to keep it.  Then he finally told her that he loves her.  – Wow, talk about romantic!  All of that was better than a poem!

Hometown Date #2:  Scottsdale, AZ – Drew

They met up in downtown and went to a park so Desiree could get the scoop on who she was going to meet.  She would meet both his mom and dad, who are divorced, and their significant others…along with his sister.

They went to pick up his handicap sister to bring her to the rest of the family.  Once with the whole family, they ate lunch and talked about the night they met.  Drew and his mom had some alone time and his mom asked how Des made him feel.  He told her that being with her is effortless and makes him feel like she is his soul mate.  Desiree met with his dad and his dad asked if she believes in angels and has ever met one.  Des said that she hadn’t and dad corrected her and told her that she has…his daughter.  Drew met with his dad and dad told him that if he wants to marry Desiree that he would throw a party.  Desiree told the camera that she wants to join Drew’s family today; she wants to stay with them. 

Hometown Date #3:  McMinnville, OR – Chris

They met in a park and embraced each other.  Chris took Des to the baseball field where his professional career started.  They played catch and hit some balls.  Chris was impressed with her skills.  After playing baseball, Des shared some sketches that she had drawn of the two of them on dates.

Next up, meeting the family!  His family was very excited to see both of them – not as excited as Zak’s family…  Over lunch, they talked about the dates that they were on.  Des mentioned that she twisted her back on one of the dates and her dad offered her a free adjustment (his is a chiropractor).  She thought it was a little strange.  After Des got an adjustment Chris and his dad had some alone time.  During the alone time his dad gave him a nose adjustment. – Weird!  Des and his mom spent some time together.  His mom brought up his ex-girlfriend and how much she hurt him.  Afterwards mom met with Chris.  Chris told his mom that he thinks she is the one.  Mom said she likes her a lot because she is strong and doesn’t have insecurities.  Mom gave him the families blessing.  Des told the camera that there is definitely a potential husband in Chris.

Hometown Date #4: Salt Lake City, UT – Brooks

Surprise, surprise…they met at a park!  Brooks shared with her that he is having a hard time not getting a lot of alone time with her.  Des wrote a list of all of their special moments together and shared them with him.  – Ok, this isn’t a good sign for Zak…  He didn’t get something from Des!  Brooks surprised Des by taking her on a canoe ride.  He accidently tipped the canoe when he leaned in for a kiss!

Brooks took Des to his parent’s mansion.  She was greeted by all of the men with a group hug.  They had dinner with his large family and talked about things they like about each other.  Mom pulled Des aside to talk to her about how she feels about Brooks.  Mom assured her that Brooks would be ready for marriage if he found the right person.  Brooks told the camera that he felt a lot better after talking to the family, but that he values his mothers opinion the most.  Brooks spent some alone time with mom.  Mom approved!

Meeting with Nate:

Desiree has not seen her brother since her last hometown date with Sean.  The purpose of meeting with him was to resolve their issues so he wouldn’t ruin things when she brings two guys back to meet her family in a couple weeks.  Nate asked her how she is feeling about the guys:  Zak = adventurous, Drew = sweet, Chris = good father and good husband, Brooks = just get each other.

Her brother explained to her that the reason why he did what he did last time was because he knew that Sean wasn’t right for her.  He then told her that as long as she has “the one” in the final four then he is open to the process.  Desiree still hadn’ decided if she is going to introduce him to the guys.  Overall, her brother is just an ass!

Talk with Chris Harrison:

Des told him that every hometown date went well.  She said that meeting the families has solidified her feelings.  He then brought up that last week she said she was in love with Brooks.  He brought up that Brooks hadn’t said that he loves her; she admitted that he still hasn’t said it.  Des said that overall she sees a proposal at the end, and with Brooks…but after Chris’ hometown date she wasn’t sure.  Chris tells her that they will begin the Rose Ceremony when she is ready.  She tells the camera that at this point there is nothing holding her back from finding her husband.  Then the camera flashes to her brother at the hotel!

Poor Zak!!!!  She walked him out and gave him the ring back. – I felt so bad for him!!!!
